Sunday Reflection Quote…The making a living grind has been seriously on like Donkey Kong. The last two weeks have been nothing short of ridiculous. Trying to balance the demands of synchronous in person and distance learning now punctuated by positive COVID cases in class and contact tracing sending numerous students to quarantine has felt unbearable. The sleepless nights, feelings of defeat and ineffectiveness, numerous pivots, and bureaucratic demands is absolutely exhausting. Despite it all, I’m reminded I’ve been through worse and have come out of the darkness stronger. I’m reminded it is okay to not be okay. I’m reminded I can’t be all things to all people. I’m reminded it isn’t all my weight to carry. I’m reminded asserting boundaries is allowed. I’m reminded to speak up. Here’s to making a life; I have just one. Here’s to setting an intention to forge a life of health, happiness, and balance.

Sunday Reflection Quote (Yes, on Monday)…The last few weeks have been magnified doozies. No doubt the next few on deck will be as well. There are stressors, uncertainties, and a mountain of tasks to check off the list. There’s also successes, hope, and happiness. I’m reminded how I choose to respond and carry things are entirely up to me. I can cave to the pulls and jump on the negativity bandwagon. But that’s not my heart and doing so adds zero value to my wellbeing. Or, I can carve out my joy by establishing boundaries, taking space, and grinding it out. I waver at times, but I do my best to hold strong and choose the latter. It is hard work. It can be exhausting. It can be defeating. It can be lonely at times. It can be rewarding. It can be fulfilling. It can be inspiring. Here’s to acknowledging such is life; I am entirely up to me.

Sunday Reflection Quote… I’m reminded how powerful the mind is. Whether spurred on by anxiety, fear, self-doubt, determination, confidence, or elation emotions run the gamut. I’m also reminded I can be intentional regarding my mindset responding to emotions. I can take space. I can be assertive. I can be intentional. I can ask for help. I can clarify. I can fail. I can try again. I can succeed. I can change. I can learn. I can grow. Operative phrase “I can.” We only have one life. Here’s to being choosy; choosy what I give my power to.

Sunday Reflection Quote…The last couple weeks have been quite the personal and professional ride. There’s been an undercurrent of push vs. pull and I’ve hunkered down to stand my ground. I’m reminded life is short and I have only one; choose wisely. I’m reminded I can’t be all things to all people; be kind to yourself. I’m reminded there’s value in being assertive, asking questions, and not chasing. Here’s to staying in my lane, staying in the moment, and having an attitude of gratitude. Here’s to knowing expectations for myself or others can be a slippery slope. Here’s to knowing I have the fortitude to see it all through.

Sunday Reflection Quote…It’s been a doozy week riding the teary morning lows of distance learning/teaching woes, the highs of shooting an 81, all rounded out by shouting from the treetops we’re engaged glee. I’m reminded life is a continuum unexpectedly twisting and turning. Sometimes it’s a full on pucker white knuckle death grip and other times it’s freely waving hands in the air like you just don’t care. Sometimes it’s broadsided trauma or pain with zero Iight in sight. Sometimes it’s shame or fear paralyzing the next move. But, BUT with hope, determination, and willingness better things DO and CAN fall together. Here’s to falling FORWARD in love, in marriage, in friendship, in family, in teaching, in golf, in health and wellness. Here’s to better things!

Sunday Reflection Quote…I often say “stay in your lane,” not for others to mind their business, rather for my own preservation. It’s a mantra to mentally and emotionally remain focused. There’s so much divisiveness; the push-pull factors can be overpowering. With all the negativity and ugliness I can become anxious, downtrodden, or disheartened. I’m reminded I have one life; one path. I’m the one who determines what’s necessary to support my values, goals, and lifestyle. I don’t have to defend my decisions. Here’s to staying in my lane. Here’s to simplicity and contentment; the defining bumpers of my journey.

Sunday Reflection Quote…Since March 13th, the word “flexibility” has been stamped in bold, block letters across my forehead. Whether personal or professional, the changes have rapidly rolled across my path at an hourly, daily, or weekly rate. My anxious belly and early morning overthinking ceiling staring brain have become front runners. There’s an uninvited new normal. I am tired, overwhelmed, and disheartened. Nonetheless, this week I was reminded goals are essential. Even in the midst of turmoil and heartache, my personal path is of value. I don’t have to explain away. I don’t have to back up the back up. I can just be. I can grind and do my thing. It is good enough. Why? Because I am stubborn, yet flexible. Because I carry with me my family legacy of “Don’t tell me, I’m the teller.” There is balance in loose and tight. There is value in go slow to go fast. Here’s to my personal and professional goals. Here’s to my predefined methods; they are good enough. As am I.

Sunday Reflection Quote (Yes, on a Monday)…Uncertainty has always been there, lurking in the dark corners of the future. Now it’s in the spotlight, magnified front and center, for every eye to inspect. Held in the balance, life and how to live it. Does one freeze and not budge? Does one dip a toe, testing the waters? Does one take the plunge and immerse themselves? I’m reminded I have the power to choose my own path. Here’s to putting uncertainty on the shelf, giving it a nod of acknowledgement, and continuing to live my life. No justification needed.

Sunday Reflection Quote (Yes, on a Monday almost Tuesday; what day is it anyway?)…The last few weeks have been a challenge for a variety of reasons cuz life, human, and unanticipated triggers. I’m reminded holding it all in and shoving it deep down inside doesn’t work. It isn’t reasonable. It isn’t healthy. It isn’t sustainable. I’m immensely grateful for the unwavering support and unconditional love from my man, Memphis. He gets it and gets me; nudging me to get it out and reset. There’s no shame in being emotional or vulnerable. I’m realizing I’m stronger for it. Here’s to knowing where I’m headed and refocusing!
